TTÜs peab loenguid Illinoisi ülikooli materjaliteaduste professor Iwona Jasiuk
- Aeg:23.05.18 - 28.05.18
Chicago Illinoisi ülikooli professor Iwona Jasiuk on saanud doktorikraadi Northwesterni ülikoolist, teinud teadustööd Michigani, Atlanta, Montreali jt ülikoolides.
Praegu töötab Illinoisi ülikooli professorina (Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL).
Professor Jasiuk saabub Tallinna tehnikaülikooli avalikke loenguid pidama USAst BAFF programmi kaudu. Loengute ajakava:
Kolmapäeval, 23. mail kell 12.00, ruumis U06-220 loeng „Advanced Nanocomposites“.
Nanofillers with highly anisotropic shapes, such as carbon nanotubes, graphene nanoplatelets, carbon black, and metallic nanowires are used as inclusions in polymer matrix materials to generate nanocomposites with superior mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. In this lecture, we report on the characterization of such composites using scanning and transmission electron microscopy. We also discuss their resulting mechanical and thermal properties. Then, we focus in more detail on the enhanced effective electrical conductivity of such composites. Electrically conductive polymer nanocomposites can be used in static dissipative, semi-conductive, conductive, or electromagnetic shielding applications. Given the wide range of applications, the electrical conductivity of nanocomposites has been an intense topic of research over the past few decades as an in-depth understanding of the various factors governing the electrical behavior is a crucial step in the advancement of nanocomposites.
Reedel, 25. mail kell 10.00, ruumis U05-103 “Additive manufacturing (3D printing; Modelling; Testing).
An overview on additive manufacturing (AM), also called 3D printing. Topic - several AM processes, including their advantages and limitations, and list common polymers that are used in commercial printers; AM applications; examples: porous periodic materials and two-phase composite materials with various architectures of phases; a global view of AM field, its challenges, and future directions.
Esmaspäeval, 28. mail kell 12.00 ruumis U06-220 “Bioinspired materials for various applications”.
Nature can serve as a guide in design of superior synthetic engineering materials. In this lecture we first provide an overview on biological materials, then discuss on how the knowledge of biological materials can be used to design novel biomimetics-based synthetic materials. Then, we outline the desired characteristics of materials for various engineering applications and bring connections with biological materials. Examples of desired material characteristics include high stiffness, strength and fracture toughness, high impact resistance and corrosion resistance, ability to self-heal when damaged, and light weight, among others.
Loengud on inglise keeles, kõik huvilised on oodatud!
