Research Positions in Hardware Security
The new Hardware Security lab at TalTech (https://www.taltech.ee/en/), led by Prof. Samuel Pagliarini (https://ati.ttu.ee/~spagliar/), invites applications for a postdoctoral research position and for a senior researcher position. The research of the HW Security lab focuses on trustworthy integrated circuit (IC) design, electronic design automation (EDA) for secure systems, Hardware Trojans, reverse engineering, circuit obfuscation, hardware implementation of crypto cores, and other similar topics.
Requirements for postdoctoral research position:
We are looking for motivated individuals with a strong background in circuit design. Having a PhD degree is mandatory for this position. Ideal candidates shall have 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience, but candidates close to the completion of a PhD are also highly encouraged to apply. Previous expertise on circuit design is mandatory for this position, ideally with a focus on implementation of Hardware Security primitives or techniques. Candidates are expected to have the following core skills:
- Ability to describe digital circuitry (preferably in Verilog)
- Ability to code in C++/python for developing small EDA tools
- Familiarity w/ Cadence tools for IC design (Genus, Innovus, Tempus, Virtuoso, etc.)
- Strong writing and communicating skills (English) that are compatible with an entry-level research position
Requirements for senior researcher position:
Having a PhD degree is mandatory for this position. Ideal candidates should have 2+ years of postdoctoral experience. We are looking for experienced individuals that can help with everyday management of a brand new research group. Senior researchers are expected to be heavily involved in grant writing, co-advising of 3-4 PhD students, writing reports, organizing meetings, preparing deliverables, and so on. This position is ideal for a candidate that wants to be an academic and is looking to transition from postdoc to assistant professor. The candidate should have a track record of publications in topics related to IC design and Hardware Security.
Funding for these positions is project-based and is already in place for the next 3 years. Candidates with adequate backgrounds will be invited to interview over Skype. These positions have an immediate start date. Salary is commensurate with experience and is highly competitive for European standards.
How to apply:
Please submit your CV to Prof. Pagliarini by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) using the subject ‘Hardware Security positions’.
About TalTech and the Department of Computer Systems:
Founded in 1918, Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) is the flagship university of Engineering and Technology in Estonia. It is located in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, and is currently the most international university in the country with around 1600 international degree students coming from over 90 different countries.
Selected candidates will join the Department of Computer Systems (https://www.ttu.ee/?id=148265), located on the main TalTech campus. The Department also hosts strong research in the area of circuit reliability, fault tolerance, verification, and test. The department fosters a collaborative environment for research and encourages exploration of cross-disciplinary topics.
